Remember those painting exercises you did as a kid by folding a painting to mirror it on the other side of the paper? We thought it would be fun to explore this technique and experiment a bit to see what we could come up with.

Remember those painting exercises you did as a kid by folding a painting to mirror it on the other side of the paper? It will be fun to explore this technique and experiment a bit to see what we could come up with :)

The event will work roughly as follows:

- We’ll do a short test round where we literally just whack some paint on the paper and go pretty abstract.

- We’ll then fold the paper and pass it to another person.

- Each person will open what they have and then write onto it a sentence or two of what they think the image is about (this is just for fun, kind of like a mini Rorschach test*).

- Next round we’ll spend a bit more time being more deliberate in what we’re trying to create. Symmetrical painting works pretty well for faces (animal or human), insects, butterflies, birds, bats etc. We can experiment with different sizes of pain blotches, different paint etc.

The aim of the session is just to have fun and see what we come up with, no prior experience with painting is necessary!

Materials will be provided, but please bring paint (acrylic or oil) and brushes if you have them.

See you there!

Ed and Flo.

------------

“Creative afterwork” was founded to bring creative people together in Lisbon on a weekly basis to share techniques and ideas through fun varied exercises. Every session will feature a different activity such as painting, sketching, creative writing, handicraft, origami, stop-motion-animation etc. The goal is that each person can create something in each session they can take away at the end.

Events are donation based, participants can choose to give based on what they feel they got out of the session. These funds are used to pay meetup fees and buy materials for future sessions.

* “The Rorschach test is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms, or both. Some psychologists use this test to examine a person's personality characteristics and emotional functioning.”
